HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — With Election Day coming up on November 8th, this week in Texas takes a look at the world of political advertising.
From television to web advertising and old-fashioned door-knocking, there are countless ways candidates can try and reach voters with their messages.
On this week’s show, ABC13’s Tom Abrahams talks with experts in Houston, Dallas and Austin about the science behind political advertising.
What is the advertising cost and strategy for each candidate?
Among the experts is Darron Shaw, a professor of government at the University of Texas-Austin and a former campaign consultant.
“The trick is the best platform, the best platform to reach the young voters, their vote is the most dynamic, and we don’t know much about the best ways to connect with them,” Shaw said.
“Some people think it’s an article. Some people think face-to-face can be a major housing problem, so the simple answer is complicated.”
Also hear from Southern Methodist University science professor Cal Jillson and former political consultant Mustafa Tamiz.
